Blog 1 English IV: A country I would like to visit

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I am gonna talk about a country I would like to visit and it is South Korea. -Changdeokgung palace- I’d really like to visit South Korea because I like the language because I feel it is soft to pronounce and easy to learn but the writing can be difficult inasmuch for our different type of alphabet; I like the city because the streets are clean, It is safer to go out than Chile, the streets have a nice lighting and they have interesting monuments and architecture that I want to visit, like Changdeokgung palace, Dongdaemun design plaza and park, Jogyesa temple and more; and I like the food looks really amazing with plenty of seasoning and always accompanied by a plate of rice. I consider it a really interesting culture that we all must visit, learn and respect the life they have because It is totally different in comparison to our country with our customs, language and lifestyle. -Dongdaemun design plaza and park- by Zaha Hadid Thank you for reading and see you next...

Blog 8: A subject I enjoy studying this semester

Imagen
Hi everyone, I hope all of you have a great long weekend. Today I’m gonna talk about a subject I enjoy this semester and that it’s “architecture and earthquake”. In this class we talk about the properties of an earthquake, the effects it causes and the different types of systems that we can employ in a structure to resist earthquakes. This subject is really interesting because in Chile it’s important to make buildings to resist earthquakes because we have the Nazca and South American tectonic plates. These tectonic plates in the moment they interact, by the process of subduction, with each other produce earthquakes.  Another theme that I enjoyed in this class was to learn about “The San Ramón fault” because it passes near where I live. This fault crosses through the districts Vitacura, Las Condes, La Reina, Peñalolén, La Florida and Puente Alto. The fault is a vertical ground displacement and generally it is activated when there is an earthquake.  I really like this sub...

Blog 7: An Expert in My Field

Imagen
Hi everyone, sorry I'm late, I was too busy those days and I forgot completely. Well today i’m gonna talk about a great expert in architecture and she is Zaha Hadid. She was born in Iraq in 1950 and she died in London in 2016 because of a heart attack at the age of 66.  She lived most of her life in London where she decided to study architecture.  Her characteristic style of architecture was deconstructivism, a style that consists in not following the rules, playing with the different volumenes of a structure, using different geometric figures for a one project and changing completely the composition of the structure of a building. In all of her trajectory as an architect she received three important rewards for our profession, which are: Mies Van Der Rohe in 2003, Pritzker prize in 2004 she was the first woman to receive this reward and the last one is Praemium Imperiale in 2009. Now I’m going to show two beautiful works of her and it is: Fire station in Vitra in 1993 ...

Blog 6: How Can I Major/ Career Make the World a Better Place

Imagen
Hi everybody. I am glad to read you again. :D Today I’m going to talk about ‘How my major can make the world a better place’ As you might know I’m studying architecture at the University of Chile. When I decided to study this career I only thought it’s a pretty career because it’s about buildings and their designs, nothing so elaborate, but now I think It’s a beautiful career because you can make a home for others who need it, make different designs to create a better city with more connection, more vegetation, building a city for the persons that’s all that matters.  In the future I see myself with a group of architects changing the vision of the city, with more green areas for the recreation of the people and the health of us and the future generations with a better air, nature and city. I hope you really enjoy it.

Blog 5: A photograph I like

Imagen
Hi everyone I hope you are okay these days :D Today I am gonna talk about my favorite photograph and it is this one. As you can see, I am with my boyfriend and one of his beautiful cats “Valek” and we were laying out in bed living the moment while Valek was purring. The picture was taken by my boyfriend Leonardo about 4 years ago, I guess. During this time I was recently making a connection with cats because, at that moment, I had never had contact with a cat because my parents didn’t like them. For these reasons I was so excited when the cat started purring :D.  I really like this picture because it reminds me of a relaxing moment with no problems, a moment with so much love that you want to rewind time and live it again. It is those moments that you don’t want to pass the time and live there forever. That’s all my history about my favorite photograph. What do you think about it?

Blog 4: Meal or food I really like

Imagen
Hi everyone, long time! For today I am going to talk about my favorite food which is Lasagna. It is an amazing food because it has so many dough layers, a lot of tomato sauce and has a layer that looks like milk but it doesn’t and I really don't know what it is because my mother said it is a secret. I hopefully know that secret layer of milk, because when I live alone I wanna cook this food and remember my mom doing it with all of her love. Also, I think I like it because this food is made for special days or moments, for example a birthday or a family meeting. An another favorite meal it is Roasted Milk and it is an amazing dessert for the favorite food, and I mention it later because it is a dessert so soft and sweet to eat, and it is prepared with ingredients we usually have in the house, that it’s milk and eggs for the Roasted Milk and sugar with water to create the beautiful caramel to put over the dessert.  That’s all for today, thank you for reading me a...

Blog 3: My favorite piece of technology

Imagen
Welcome to my third blog!   Today I am going to talk about my favorite piece of technology. Day by day we use technology for everything and one piece I use for everything is my computer. Here is where I work in my university stuff, where I chat with my friends, where I can watch movies, series or any video on YouTube, or use any other platform to recreate myself.  I have been with this mac computer since 2018. My parents gave it to me on Christmas because I would start university too soon and they wanted me to have a computer because they know the career of architecture has to do a lot of work on that device. I highly recommend this computer because I have never had an issue with it, It always works 24/7 and It will never let you down, perfect for the pandemic.  The pandemic and the university affected my life in many ways. The bad thing is the pandemic forces us all to use more technology, that's why I am always in front of the computer or any other kind of techno...
