Blog 7: An Expert in My Field

Hi everyone, sorry I'm late, I was too busy those days and I forgot completely.

Well today i’m gonna talk about a great expert in architecture and she is Zaha Hadid.

She was born in Iraq in 1950 and she died in London in 2016 because of a heart attack at the age of 66.  She lived most of her life in London where she decided to study architecture.

Her characteristic style of architecture was deconstructivism, a style that consists in not following the rules, playing with the different volumenes of a structure, using different geometric figures for a one project and changing completely the composition of the structure of a building.

In all of her trajectory as an architect she received three important rewards for our profession, which are: Mies Van Der Rohe in 2003, Pritzker prize in 2004 she was the first woman to receive this reward and the last one is Praemium Imperiale in 2009.

Now I’m going to show two beautiful works of her and it is:

  • Fire station in Vitra in 1993 in the city of Weil am Rhein, Germany.

  • Bridge Pavilion of the Zaragoza International Exhibition in 2008, Spain

I really love all the architecture she made because she has a different perspective of what architecture is. She decided to explore all the material and its plasticity and make a different building than we see these days with its forms that are so strictic like a cube.

She is my role model.

Thank you for reading, see you in the next blog! :D
